Upside
The Upside business travel venture allows you to book good-value accommodation and transport and provides different gift cards (Amazon, iTunes, and so on). The site always shows you the lowest published fares that can be found across the internet for flights, hotels, rental cars, and rideshares. And when you book on Upside, you never travel alone - a team of expert travel agents is always watching out for you on your trip, fixing travel problems as soon as they happen.
Our team participated in the development of two services for Upside Travel: the main booking service and the support service. The work started with a pilot version of the main hotel and airline reservation service. The task was to set up a process for quick releases and enable the marketing team to test the right amount of hypotheses every week. The selected stack was Node.js + Angular.js. During the subsequent development of the beta version of the application, the state-ready React.js library was added. The online support service was implemented using React.js and Node.js. The project code was subjected to Mocha tests to ensure the stability of releases and the absence of critical bugs.
For this service, we implemented:
- alpha/beta versions of the main site;
- the architecture of the customer support service;
- the ability to contact support by phone, email and live chat;
- an algorithm for optimal flight calculation;
- a search algorithm to discover the best hotel location based on trip parameters.
Users have the ability to:
- book a plane ticket or a hotel room, or rent a car;
- plan their whole trip;
- receive instant notifications about changes to reservations, directly to their phone;
- find the lowest prices, the best flight times and the most comfortable hotels;
- contact support 24/7.
Shypple
The goal of this project was to provide customers of the Dutch logistics company Shypple with the ability to quickly and conveniently track the delivery of goods by sea. The Shypple service allows you to search, compare, order, and manage foreign delivery options. The system also provides a deeper understanding of the cost of delivery.
Users have the ability to:
- choose potential performers;
- search and compare delivery options;
- track the status of cargo transportation;
- fill out all the necessary documentation online;
- chat with contractors about each order separately.
The front-end part of this single-page application (SPA) was developed using TypeScript + React.js, while the back end used Ruby on Rails + PostgreSQL. We were also tasked with implementing a marketing website with basic information about the company, in which we used the popular CMS WordPress 4.9.8. We added a theme based on HTML5Blank Theme (http://html5blank.com/), which combines the modern capabilities of HTML5, Bootstrap grid, simplicity and lightness of the code, and also uses the Gulp build system to quickly and safely create scripts and styles. In addition, the theme provides a more convenient mechanism for adding your own templates for individual pages, as it combines a unified page frame, aligned with the design of the site and the possibility of page builder from SiteOrigin.
To implement specific tasks, we added proper widgets (for example, Shypple Smart Tabs, letting us combine slider and admin controls as tab-switches) and the ability to edit data/content by means of the admin panel. For more safety, the standard URL for the admin panel was redefined, and for all the sites, a reCaptcha form was added.
For this service, we implemented:
- the search and selection of contractors;
- cargo tracking on a map;
- drift chat for each order;
- various supporting documents;
- a marketing website.
Scoperty
The subject area of the project is the rent/sale/purchase of a real estate in Germany. The main tool is the map. We used a customized Google Maps with all the features that should be. The user can register in the system under different roles - the owner, realtor, buyer, and, accordingly, the function: sell/rent/buy a real estate. All properties are available on the map - the user can select any of them with a simple click and view detailed information about the object. Photos, information about the state of the building, the interior. Each user has access to a personal account where he can view information about his objects; objects he added to favorites and so on.
We were developing the client part as part of the MVP, after launch, during the growth and expansion of the startup. Mainly, we worked on the front end part, using Angular 7 technology. We customized the Google Map and embedded it in the project. The main tool in the project is the map, a lot of work has been done on its customization. Implemented the logic of drawing clusters on the map. Each cluster is a specific region of Germany with a display of the boundaries of the cluster and the number of properties in it. This data is automatically redrawn under each zoom level. For more detailed zoom levels, instead of clusters, logic was implemented on drawing polygons that reflect the boundaries of real land plots with real estate objects on them. All these things respond to the filter system that manages the drawing objects on the map.
Edcast
At first glance, EdCast may seem to be just a learning platform.
Actually, it’s a kind of cloud where users can integrate all the courses from other platforms to create an individual plan.
We started working on the project once it was just a concept. The startup raised investments and won a lot of awards then. Currently, the platform is used internationally by companies and large government organizations.
The project has a separate admin panel. Admin can update and configure the platform adding, editing, and deleting the content.
EdCast is one of our most long-term projects. Our team has been working for several years on the full-stack: Ruby for the server and React.js for the client-side. Currently, we continue supporting the project adding new features and working on optimization.
