Steamship Mutual

Future Processing has been working with Steamship Mutual since 2008. Our Client’s IT department noticed that the resource pool for maintaining the core insurance systems, written in PowerBuilder, was rapidly declining with a consequent risk to the business.

Steamship saw the need to migrate some applications, written ten years ago in Power Builder to the .NET platform that their more recent applications were written in since they were falling behind on quality.

Working with such a large programme presents many challenges. The PowerBuilder code was difficult to read, the procedures and business logic behind the code were highly complex and had evolved. It soon became clear to us that with this code as our main guide, the migration will require meticulous work, involving many developers.

The new .NET applications created by Future Processing, along with the supporting documentation gave the Client the chance for further development of their business.

We have eliminated the risk of not being able to maintain Steamship’s core systems and ensured the continuity of their core business during migration. After the migration, they could successfully develop their business. In the long-run, the applications will be easier to maintain and upgrade, and consequently will last much longer.

The look and feel of the application is more modern and intuitive, therefore users are more satisfied. What’s more, the new functionality that the Future Processing team added enables users to automate more tasks and complete critical business processes a lot quicker.

Last but not least, the project was delivered at a considerably lower cost than in-house or on-shore development.

Smart Valor

ista

Ista is one of the world’s leading companies providing energy management services for greater energy efficiency in buildings – especially in apartment buildings and commercial properties.

The history of the company can be traced back to 1902 and the foundation of Clorius and ista, the Danish and German pioneers of consumption-based billing of energy and water.

Over the years, the company expanded and is today represented in 25 countries in Europe, and beyond. ista currently employs over 5,300 people and its sales in 2016 were over € 850.4 million.

Business Challenge
ista first approached us at the end of 2015 with the intention to further strengthen its position solutions for property management in Europe. The company was looking for a partner who would deliver a web portal for the analysis of utility consumption data for property managers. The portal needed to be user-friendly, had to integrate with other systems and had to have an ability to run detailed reports.

Future Processing’s Role
Our role was to create the bespoke solution from scratch. We started off with the Analysis & Design and a UX consultation, and proceeded with development with constant input from UX colleagues.

The ista Property Manager Portal (iPMP) was rolled out to Italy in January 2017 and it will shortly go live in other countries as well.

Benefits of the partnership
ista now has a corporate solution which has been custom built and therefore perfectly meets the needs of their target market.

The iPMP we created is a web portal that allows users for detailed reporting of utilities used in buildings they oversee. Beyond a standard reporting of usage, users can now also monitor trends over time and compare levels of utility use between different apartments, or following structural changes to the building. This allows for better control of usage and for a reduction of losses which supports the green attitude of ista towards the environment.

Valeo

Future Processing chosen by Valeo to conduct Analysis & Design and development of a brand new Europe-wide system

Founded in 1923, Valeo is one of the first automobile equipment suppliers in the world and a partner to all automakers worldwide. As a technology company, Valeo proposes innovative products and systems that contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and to the development of intuitive driving.

In 2016, the Group generated sales of €16.5 billion. Valeo has 155 production units, 58 research & development centres, 15 distribution platforms, and employs 91,800 people in 32 countries worldwide.

In January 2016, Future Processing started a cooperation with Valeo Electric and Electronic Systems which belongs to the Thermal Systems and Powertrain Systems Business Groups and is based in southern Poland.

Future Processing was tasked with conducting analysis and providing specification for a brand new, internal system which will be used by Valeo employees all over Europe. The specification document was based on knowledge gathered during two series of workshops that took place in France, in the physical location where several processes crucial to the system are conducted, and in Poland where the new solution concept was discussed and developed.

Knowledge acquired during these workshops, with constant input from the main stakeholders, was the basis for designing a solution answering both the business’ and the end users’ needs. The aim of the Analysis & Design phase was to support the ongoing business process with new, efficient solutions designed from scratch to improve it, but also ensuring that they respect good practices that have been developed over the years.

The Linde Group

The Linde Group is a world-leading gas and engineering company with around 65,500 employees in more than 100 countries worldwide.

In 2016, The Linde Group’s newly founded subsidiary – Linde Hydrogen Concepts, launched the world’s largest and friendliest hydrogen-powered carsharing service – BeeZero®.

BeeZero® is the first hydrogen, zero emission car sharing service in the world. Thanks to its state-of-the-art technology, BeeZero®’s users can help to reduce pollution and traffic noise without having to forego the amenities a car has to offer.

Initially, Future Processing’s role was to create custom modules that would become integrated with the existing off-the-shelf solution, targeting a hybrid organisation. However, as matters developed, BeeZero® decided to have a custom system that would support all BeeZero® function domains built from scratch by Future Processing.

Benefits to BeeZero®
Even though we do a lot of programming work, we are more than just developers to Linde – working in an Agile approach, we participate in the entire service lifecycle, from design through the development process to production support and, acting as a partner, we help them build a hybrid organisation. Linde gained a dedicated team of more than 20 experts adept at a variety of software development-related activities. The engagement of different roles made the project very lightweight for the client.

Our cooperation
We started working together in July 2017 when Neyber was looking for a partner with competencies necessary to increase the development capacity and speed up the rollout of their products using a variety of leading-edge cloud-based technologies.

In the course of our cooperation, we were able to show operational agility by scaling the team up and down, depending on Neyber’s changing business requirements. We started as a team of 5 and gradually extended our cooperation, reaching over 20 people working on three different projects. Once the first milestones were achieved, we smoothly scaled-down, wrapping ourselves around our client’s needs.

We are proud to be working with Neyber not only because of the technological aspect of our cooperation but also because our organisations are truly aligned – both our companies aim to create solutions that empower people and make a positive contribution to human life.

This was especially exhibited in the last project we were working on, which was a portal aimed to improve financial awareness and educate people on how to manage their money better. It allows access to guides with tips on how to be better-off and tools such as an easy-to-use savings calculator, designed to give a clear picture of one’s finances.

Beyond software development
Our role extended beyond software development, though. We proved our technical expertise helping with Business Analysis by proactively agreeing the requirements and trying to find the best answer to address Neyber’s business challenges. We also shared our knowledge, recommended solutions and helped with Neyber’s innovative software by verifying the business value of new technologies, such as a Proof of Concept with Machine Learning.

Compliance and security are very important to Neyber as a regulated business therefore, in addition to software development, our Security Team conducted a series of Penetration Tests.

Building a long-lasting relationship, it was necessary for us to become a self-organising team that required the minimum need for client management, following a mature development process based on ‘inspect and adapt’.

Flowbird

Our cooperation with Flowbird (previously known as Parkeon) started in 2008.

Over the years, we’ve grown from an initially small team to the position where we are now supporting various business units, in both transport and parking, for both the UK and France.

Our interdisciplinary delivery teams have developed and enhanced software for a span of platforms, from embedded software on Flowbird’s devices, through to back-office systems. Projects have ranged from minor improvements for particular Flowbird customers, through developing components of a mass transit solution on a new architecture, to providing support for developed solutions.

We are now a key partner of Flowbird, providing a significant software development capability. Flowbird has delivered solutions using a range of technologies, in order to meet the needs of their clients. Future Processing has been involved with all of these.

To date, there are around 10,000 buses in the UK equipped with Flowbird machines which contain software components developed by Future Processing. What is more, 5000 buses in Sydney are equipped with Flowbird’s Bus Driver Console running on software which also includes components developed by us.

Apart from the above, we have supplied the ticketing system as part of a prestigious city-wide scheme for Helsinki, including driver consoles, ticket validators, ticket vending machines, inspection devices and a comprehensive back office system.

Credit Agricole

We are currently working on the development of an application supporting the internal processes at the bank, with a modern, user-friendly, high-quality interface.

For eighteen years the Crédit Agricole Bank operates in Poland in many business lines close to the customer, as a strong, reliable and stable partner, appreciated for the professionalism and quality of the products offered.

The cooperation between Crédit Agricole and Future Processing began in 2018, when the Credit Agricole was looking for a business partner in the FinTech area. From the very beginning, we have been cooperating closely with Unicorns Innovation Lab – a department responsible for implementing innovation and testing new technologies and approaches.

We are currently working on the development of an application supporting the internal processes at the bank, with a modern, user-friendly, high-quality interface.

Marston Holdings

Allocate

Future Processing teams work on a few projects for Allocate simultaneously. One of the biggest projects we work on is E360 web application, which helps to manage the periodic assessment of doctors.

We provided a dedicated team responsible for the development process and quality assurance aspect. However, before the development started, we had to design the architecture of the solution from the very beginning.

At the end of July 2014, there were 4144 evaluated doctors and 7497 surveys completed in E360 system.

Due to entrusting software development outsourcing to Future Processing, Allocate managed to achieve significant cost-savings, compared to the UK, not losing on quality. Our cooperation resulted in a much shorter time to market and gave the client more flexibility in resource allocation.

The project helped demonstrate to the client a template for successful, multi-location SCRUM development. To foster open communication, which is a keystone to agile implementation, both sides constantly stay in touch for technical and management issues.

Over the years we acquired a lot of knowledge about Allocate and their needs. Having learned that, we have domain contribution and we can propose improvements. Together with the client, we think what to do to help them achieve what they really want. We are trusted when it comes to offering solutions and refining requirements.
