Automation Testing for F&B Mobile Application
Client’s Description:
- Client is the pioneer and the leading restaurant chain model in Vietnam.
- They currently own more than 21 brands and nearly 400 restaurants, serving 17 million customers annually and still expanding.
Business Need:
- They have approximately 20 applications and each has 5-6 releases per year. The demand for testing hence is huge, which makes their current QA team struggle to handle.
- They need to apply UI automation for their mobile and web applications.
- Additionally, they require APIs for backend testing to reduce the time to market and test effort, as well as increased quality.
Challenges:
- End-2-end test flow is complicated, it requires actions on various platforms.
- The data test is huge for API test, making it hard for current manual test to cover.
Solutions:
- We built automation framework for both mobile testing and web testing.
- We developed API test program (using Java), supported data-driven to test with a huge data set.
- We used Java, Maven, TestNG, Appium (to support mobile) and Selenium (to support Web application).
Test results:
- 71 Test cases
- 3 Bug Detected
- 10 Regression runs
- Time for executing a regression cycle has been reduced from 7 days/week to 4 days/week
Banking System - Manual Testing
Client’s Description:
- Established on 18th September 1996, VIB started its operation with initial charter capital of VND50 billion and 23 staffs.
- Until 31/12/2020, the charter reached over VND11,000 billion, while its shareholders’ equity reached VND17,972 billion and total assets were VND244 trillion.
- Currently, VIB has more than 9,400 employees, serving nearly 3 million customers at 165 branches and transaction offices in 27 key provinces/ cities across the country.
Business Need:
- Web and mobile banking apps of our client were upgraded to new versions which need confirming and checking of the new functions.
Challenges:
- We have limited access to the database.
- Software requirement specifications are outdated.
Solutions:

- Duration: Nov 2018 ~ Jan 2019
- Team component: 2 teams (1 team for product maintenance, one team for new product development) with 16 members (10 functional testers, 1 performance tester, 2 security testers).
Business Need:
- Our client wants a capable QA partner to evaluate the quality of the whole system, including functional and non-functional aspects.
LTS Group's Solution:
- We built up a strategy of functional, performance, and security testing to cover requirements.
- Tools: We used WAPT Pro tool for performance test, OWASP v4.0 guideline to perform penetration test, scan by both OWASP ZAP & Burp Suite to get the issue list.
