WaterAid Games
WaterAid is the leading clean water, sanitation and hygiene charity worldwide. Their mission is to end poverty by providing clean water and toilets to everyone, everywhere by 2030.
We have designed and developed 3 different games to date for WaterAid, with more to follow.
WaterQuest is aimed at secondary school children for use in the classroom. In this game, children explore a rural village in the highlands of Madagascar, and they learn about the hardships caused by lack of clean water and toilets. In their mission, children interact with the villagers and listen to their stories, then recommend solutions to help WaterAid improve lives and step people out of poverty.
AngryTurds is a game is aimed primarily at children and families, but also the big kid in all of us. It is based in the popular Angry Birds slingshot format, with a level editor and poo character creator, and hilarious sound effects. Angry turds was conceived as a catalyst, a fun way to get talking about why poo needs to go firmly in toilets to keep the environment clean and communities happy and healthy
?Germ Zapper helps nursery and reception age children explore the world of germs, where they may be hiding in your house, and why it is important to wash your hands. As well as fun games of hide and seek and zap-a-germ, the app provides a thorough animated explanation of the correct hand washing sequence.
My Little Pony Apps
Explore and play with the world’s most loved ponies
Eaglemoss piloted the Augmented Relaity app (AR) and periodical idea on a 4 issue run of their high end MLP Magical Mysteries book series. In close collaboration with the Eaglemoss editorial team Milo designed an app that unlocked games, content and animation from the books using AR markers. We added magic by taking elements straight from the printed page and bringing them to life with animation and sound . Each week, the subscriber would get a new issue of the magazine, unlock a new game, and collect stickers and tools to use in the app. The successive games were collected in an interface displaying a map of the magical world of Equestria.
With clever use of AR, we were able to add a new layer to the paper book with a treasure hunt for collectibles, as well as creating a series of very compelling mobile games that kept users hankering for the next installment of the book and the new AR stickers to unlock new content in the app.
Paul Smiths Dino Jumper
Dino jumper is a retro arcade game created to coincide with the launch of Paul Smith’s mens’ collection.
Designers and coders at Milo had a lot of fun turning the fantastic designs from textiles to animated figures in a fast-paced, 2D side-scrolling, endless runner game created in Unity. The game starts off being relatively easy to play, with the difficulty ramping with new obstacles and enemies to dodge, including ghosts, heart charms from the collection, and chasms in the platform from which the dino could fall - and the player lose a life. We included boosts to help the user, such as a pair of black chelsea boots (also from the collection) that allowed the dinosaur to run faster and jump higher.
We increased the game’s virality by allowing the user to share their score via social media, inviting their friends to download the game and compete. In parallel, we coded in analytics to monitor downloads, session length, new versus returning users, devices, geographical distribution and the like, making this an invaluable tool for the brand's marketing team.
Me+Moo
Me+Moo is a fun social app developed within the context of 5G RuralFirst, a co-innovation project led by Cisco alongside government, business and academia partners.
5G RuralFirst aims to demonstrate the game-changing potential of 5G technologies in remote rural areas, empowering communities to evolve more efficient business models for critical industries such as agriculture, tourism, renewable energy, and manufacturing.
Milo was appointed by Harvard, the PR company running the 5G RuralFirst campaign for Cisco to help them disseminate the 5G RuralFirst story. Their idea was to use the IoT collars of dairy cows in a connected farm to allow people to befriend a cow, and to follow her journey for a week.
The app we developed is both tongue in cheek and also very informative. It is reminiscent of a dating app, but with gamification, leaderboards and viral loops built in alongside educational video-diary entries from Duncan the farmer.
Maths Whizz
Engaging kids in maths
Maths-Whizz is a virtual maths tutor online that was launched over ten years ago. It was, and still is, a unique product because of its adaptive nature. It is able to guide students through an individualised learning journey that simulates the behaviour of a human tutor.
We created an immersive, exciting and modern learning environment that entices children to learn within a game world.
We designed a gamification strategy that provides motivation, healthy competition, and visibility of the child's progress to learners, parents, and teachers.
Lirica
Learn languages with the power of music
A language learning app that is different from all the rest. Lirica uses songs, pulled from Sony Musics huge catalog of international hits, to make learning a language more memorable and fun. Songs are naturally engaging and form a window into the cultures they represent.
