Ecolines
Client: Ecolines, Latvia
The challenge was to completely redesign and develop new applications for coach operators Ecolines and Autolux. The existing apps, outdated as of 2023, had significant technical debt and numerous bugs.
Solution:
To update the applications, we first needed to understand all their functionality. Our designer created a Functional Map outlining all main flows and sections, which the clients approved. With this map, the designer began the UI/UX work.
We used the existing backend provided by the clients, and the mobile developer's task was to research it and compile the API documentation. Design and development were carried out simultaneously, with developers working on approved screens while the designer moved on to the following parts.
Result: We delivered modern, updated Ecolines and Autolux applications with a 99% bug-free user experience. We preserved the branding and successfully launched without any business losses.
SMILEFOOD — food ordering app
Client: SMILEFOOD, Ukraine
Challenge:
Stfalcon’s task was to redesign and plan a new app.
Solution:
We conducted a comprehensive discovery phase that included:
- Filling in a Business Model Canvas
- Researching competitors and similar apps
- Interviewing SMILEFOOD app users
- Creating customer profiles and CJMs for different client types
The next stage was to develop the app’s design based on the findings from the discovery phase.
Result:
Stfalcon’s team created a detailed design for the food ordering app, addressing numerous small cases to streamline future development. We adapted native iOS elements to Android, prepared graphics and a UI Kit for developers, and devised a plan for migrating to the new backend while synchronizing the existing client base with the future one.
The Hump — luggage transportation service
Client: CEO of The Hump, Saudi Arabia
Challenge:
Stfalcon’s task was to develop a service solution for frequent flyers, whether for leisure or business, to streamline all baggage-related procedures, from delivery to the airport to obtaining a boarding pass and baggage tag.
Solution:
The MVP version includes:
- The ability to place an order
- Luggage tracking
- Contact details and information about the company
- A bilingual interface: English and Arabic
- The option to send orders to the manager's email
- Email design
- Desktop, tablet, and mobile versions
- Backend functionality
Users were categorized into three roles:
1. Administrator
2. Manager
3. Courier
Specific scenarios were developed for each role, allowing users to perform distinct actions such as placing orders, changing order statuses, notifying clients, appointing couriers, and monitoring statistics and transactions. While each role is distinct, common features are interchangeable.
Result:
Stfalcon developed and launched the startup solution within a month. The Hump startup has been successfully operating for six months, processing over 300 orders. A plan for scaling the project is already in place, including tracking baggage along the way, automated status changes, and courier appointments.
Whizzy — logistic app for items shipping
Client: Co-Founder of Whizzy, Eng.Abdulaziz Albader, Saudi Arabia
Challenge:
To build iOS and Android mobile apps from scratch in two languages: Arabic and English. The platform needed two applications: one for clients and one for drivers. Clients create orders and choose drivers to fulfill them. Drivers search for the necessary items and complete the orders. The Whizzy platform includes: Android and iOS apps for clients, Android and iOS apps for drivers, an Admin Panel, and a Website.
Solution:
Stfalcon began with a discovery phase to understand the needs of both user types and the context of the solution usage. This phase resulted in creating user flows, user stories, and a product vision. Based on these user stories, we divided the application into two versions. The first version was developed as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), with a second version incorporating additional features planned for post-launch development.
Result:
Stfalcon developed the MVP for iOS and Android mobile apps, exceeding the client's initial expectations. This success was achieved through presenting our vision and propositions to the client and agreeing on the best solutions. Additionally, we created a landing page to attract traffic to the service and our product.
An app for working with a smart lock
Client: An app for working with a smart lock (Project under the NDAs), USA
Challenge:
Our team was tasked with developing software to interact with a smart lock. The software needed to enable the lock to open and close via smartphone commands, issue and revoke virtual keys, allow automatic door opening upon recognizing the owner, and provide control both in line of sight and over the Internet.
Additionally, we needed to:
- Implement the ability to group locks into sections and integrate them into smart home systems.
- Allow configuration of virtual keys, transfer them to other users, replace them when necessary, and set specific access times for individuals.
Solution:
We decided to use modern technologies, such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), to save battery power and extend the device and phone's lifespan. NFC technology was used for quick and easy initial setup.
For remote control and server communication, we used MQTT technology with socket connections to delegate access to the room.
We implemented multilevel encryption, multiple layers of protection, and offline functionality without an Internet connection.
Since the application was developed from scratch, we created a custom SDK to communicate with the device, implementing a custom protocol. This allows any developer to further develop the system without needing extensive onboarding to interact with the device.
Result:
We successfully developed an Android app ready for full use by end-users.
CopeCart – apps for monitoring e-distribution sale
Client: CopeCart
Challenge:
Design CopeCart client apps to monitor e-sales performance, allow account holders to set goals, and receive notifications. A key non-functional requirement was ensuring the smooth operation of the app. "The interface should be smooth," stated the customer.
Solution:
Developing native applications for existing businesses offers several advantages. First, it enables product scalability. Second, it ensures stability and efficiency by using best practices in app development. Third, finding specialists to support and develop the product in the future will not be a significant issue. Therefore, we chose to develop native applications for CopeCart.
Result:
The team successfully met the client's requirement for a "smooth interface," regardless of the number of graphics tabs activated in the settings. All pages load asynchronously and data is rendered with animations, ensuring a seamless user experience.
Credit Agricole — design for payment kiosks
Challenge:
Transfer all cash desk functionalities to payment kiosks, making them convenient and easy to operate, based on best UX principles.
Solution:
We designed the interface for Credit Agricole payment kiosks and created detailed operating scenarios for various cash operations, including screens for possible errors and notifications. The design variants were tested with a focus user group, and all identified drawbacks and benefits were incorporated into the final design.
For bank customers, we implemented authorization and an extended list of services. Non-customers have quick and hassle-free access to popular services such as top-ups and cash deposits without authorization. Additionally, services for independent entrepreneurs were listed separately.
Result:
The design by Stfalcon fully met the requirements and expectations of Credit Agricole, even exceeding the initial project scope by incorporating customer development suggestions. The solution is now successfully implemented on the client's side.
MeinFernbus — development of a mobile application
Challenge:
Enable effective collaboration for partner agencies and allow travelers to purchase bus tickets via mobile.
Solution:
We developed a robust system consisting of three components: a sales site (frontend), a company management system (backend), and an API for partner agencies.
- The ticket sales site was created and connected to the backend via the API, facilitating all business processes.
- A CMS was developed using Symfony to manage the transport company.
- Mobile applications were designed to be lightweight, fast, and feature a minimal set of components.
The flexible system architecture ensures easy and hassle-free scalability in the future, as the total system load is distributed across individual components.
Result:
The startup now serves around 100,000 travelers daily and continues to grow. The app, rated 4+ stars, has been downloaded over 10 million times.
Vethem – vet appointment booking app (now Agria)
Challenge:
Develop an application for appointment booking or online consultations with a veterinarian for a Swedish company.
Solution:
We developed native applications for both Android and iOS with an intuitive interface and user-friendly functionality. A flexible architecture was implemented in both cases, ensuring that future design changes or business logic alterations could be made easily and without hassle.
Result:
The app achieved a 4.9 rating on both the App Store and Google Play, with over 10,000 downloads within six months. In April 2019, Vethem Sweden AB's mobile app revenue exceeded $5,000 for both iOS and Android versions.
BBGO — a car order service
Client: BBGO, Ukraine
The challenge was to identify the best patterns for the new car ordering app product. After analyzing a dozen popular solutions, we pinpointed the most frequently used features by many users:
- Home screen with preferred addresses
- Car category selection with a fixed price
- Clear indication of the selected car
- After-trip review system
The service needed to incorporate a unique bonus system. Passengers receive bonuses after each ride, which they can use for discounted rides or share with friends.
