MedYouCate
The new e-learning platform aims to simplify medical training and improve its quality. It features verified video courses for different healthcare subject areas. Medical students and professionals can subscribe to the website and watch high-quality videos with detailed explanations in the field of their interest. Upon course completion, they receive a certificate to add to their CV.
Goal
The client is a startup with an idea to create a subscription-based marketplace for healthcare practitioners. They had a defined set of requirements represented by a mindmap and user stories. However, they lacked the knowledge and experience in marketplace development. So, they turned to Syndicode to provide them with a turnkey solution.
The effort
The Syndicode team consulted the client on the core features and tech stack. Next, we fast-started the development of an MVP to validate the idea and mitigate the first-mover risks. After collecting feedback from the early users, we created a development strategy for the full product and approved it with the client.
To ensure a smooth introduction of the platform to the market and speed up the time to market, we decided to release the product in versions. We also developed a design system for the entire project and created the platform’s visual UI and UX. At the moment, the first version is live and gathering user feedback.
The result
The project is still a work in progress. We have delivered a core version of the learning platform with essential functionality as of this writing. The client uses it for marketing purposes, collecting user feedback, and inviting content creators and selected users.
We keep testing new features and equipping the platform with new functionality.
Senden24
Senden24 is an online shipping service from offline stores. A customer can order goods they bought in a brick-and-mortar store to be delivered to their home within one hour. The logistical costs are handled by the stores.
Goal
The client had an idea but lacked the technical knowledge and capabilities for its validation. Syndicode stepped in with the necessary experience in marketplace building and streamlined processes letting us deliver a quality MVP within the tight timeframe.
The effort
Syndicode designers have analyzed the target audience and created a UX/UI design for a website and a mobile application. The main focus was on visual appeal that would attract the customer’s attention and inspire trust.
Our Ruby on Rails developers set up a backend administration platform, a single-page interactive promo website, and an order form for shops. On the website, a user could subscribe to the company’s newsletter, register as a partner, and recommend the service to friends.
We also created a mobile application for couriers where they could review the available jobs, get directions and review the history of completed orders. As a part of the client’s marketing, we created an HTML5 game for spreading on social media.
The result
We made and launched an MVP from scratch within 2 months after the project started, and provided post-delivery maintenance. The project started getting orders.
CleanAgents
CleanAgents is an online platform that offers professional cleaning services on demand and on a subscription basis.
Goal
The client had a working basic version of the platform and was ready to build a fully-featured marketplace. Being an expert in marketplace development, Syndicode took on the project.
The effort
Syndicode full-stack Ruby on Rails developers joined the client’s team to improve the existing product and implement new features. We started with the refactoring of the old spaghetti code into microservices. This way, we could amend the system’s units and add new ones without rewriting the entire code which accelerated the development process greatly.
Next, we set up a testing environment, picked the appropriate tools, planned and performed software testing, and prepared the associated documentation. Following the test-driven development (TDD) principles, we polished out the website functionality, improved its look and feel, and created an order form.
The result
The final version of the CleanAgents website went live within the planned timeframe. It was acquired by Helpling, the so-called Uber for cleaners, with total funding of $95M.
HelloCare
HelloCare is a marketplace connecting caregivers and everyday helpers with people in need.
Goal
The client was looking for a tech-savvy partner to build an MVP for his idea validation. Given our experience in marketplace development, Syndicode took on the project.
The effort
A Syndicode designer worked side by side with web and mobile developers to create a focused UX tailored to the specifics of the business niche. We planned and implemented the helper’s registration and order workflows aimed to safeguard users and speed up the helper search close to the customer’s location.
The Android app was created in accordance with Material Design Guidelines. In the basic variant, the app displayed new and completed orders, provided the map view to minimize commute time, and a helper’s calendar that presented their workload.
After the MVP was released, we continued to provide technical support and implement functional changes based on user feedback. Thus, upon the client’s approval, we changed the UX of the helper’s dashboard, having simplified data search and management.
The result
HelloCare MVP was launched successfully and started getting orders. Later, it was acquired by Pflegix, a senior care marketplace.
SwiftComply
The SwiftComply platform enables monitoring businesses' compliance with local water regulations. It also minimizes paperwork by providing online forms for self-submitting inspection reports and stores information about water constructions and facilities.
Goal
The client lacked the technical expertise to implement his idea. He was also looking for a team that could scale in line with his requirements. The offer made by Syndicode matched all the criteria.
The effort
Syndicode built an online marketplace from scratch, having designed and implemented a range of micro features. We created a microservices architecture to set a solid base for further product expansion and improvement.
Currently, our team has been providing all-inclusive technical support for the platform.
The result
The project went live and raised $4.5M in total funding.
Azzaro
Azzaro is an online apparel and fragrance store shipping worldwide.
Goal
The client sought for a full-cycle development company to get a turnkey solution for their website. They turned to Syndicode thanks to the positive word of mouth.
The effort
The Syndicode team created a stylish website using the best design practices. We tackled the challenge of providing detailed categorization for the vast assortment of goods that at the same time were easy to navigate.
The result
Our development team implemented a scalable easy-to-manage solution with simple checkout. In 2020, Azzaro was acquired by L’Oreal, the largest cosmetics company in the world.
Umico
Umico is a marketplace aggregating all the discounted offers in the Azerbaijan market. A customer can shop straight through the platform, order product delivery, and receive cashback. Alternatively, you can show your Umico app while shopping in a physical store to get cashback. In short, Umico offers a single electronic solution instead of numerous plastic discount cards from online and offline stores.
Goal
The client turned to Syndicode as an expert in full-cycle marketplace development to build a website and a mobile application.
The effort
The Syndicode team designed and developed the web and mobile applications, and set the backend admin platform. Since the Umico website works with a vast amount of data that should be frequently updated, we chose Ruby on Rails. This framework is well-suited for the microservices architecture that allows the quick creation of highly-productive scalable solutions.
For the mobile backend, we chose the .NET framework for its flexibility and scalability. However, Umico’s corporate standard limited our data storage choice down to the Microsoft Azure library which led to a memory leak in a .NET core app. To solve the issue, our developers wrote a whole new custom Shrine-storage gem and open-sourced it.
The result
Today the Umico marketplace features hundreds of products in 20 categories. The Umico app has more than 8K unique downloads and is still counting.
BookYaBike
Description
BookYaBike is a platform for bicycle rent. It connects cycling lovers with bike rental services across Mallorca, letting them specify their search with a variety of filters from brand to frame type and material.
Goal
The client had an idea for a bicycle rental service in Mallorca but lacked the necessary technical expertise to implement it.
The effort
The Syndicode team took over the technical part of the project from consultations to development while the client fully focused on the business side. Initially, the BookYaBike platform was supposed to aggregate and display all the rental stations available in the area. In the course of market research and brainstorming, the initial idea has transformed into an all-in-one platform where any customer from amateur to professional can rent a fitting bike, thus not having to transport their own vehicle.
Our team created a unique UI/UX concept for the marketplace website and implemented it. Given the necessity for complex search logic with an abundance of filtering options, we chose WordPress for a website due to its faceted search capabilities. To facilitate the website’s performance, we opted for React Native for its flexibility with Ruby on Rails on the backend due to its microservices architecture.
The result
The platform enables users to find a bicycle that would fit them by a number of parameters, including brand, type, driver’s height, gender, frame size, material, brake and shifting type, and more. The system also checks the bike availability across rental stations in the chosen area and returns the station’s details and full assortment.
Evrlearn - educational marketplace in Switzerland
Description
Evrlearn is an educational marketplace that helps users find the most relevant course from dozens of global providers and Swiss universities. The recommendation algorithm uses the detailed questionnaire that users complete during registration.
Goal
An EdTech startup turned to Syndicode as a specialized marketplace development company to create a learning platform from scratch. The UX/UI design was provided by the client, but the list of technical requirements wasn’t specified at the project start.
The effort
The Syndicode team explored the client’s idea and came up with out-of-the-box implementation options. Together, we have decided on the tech stack and prioritized the feature set.
Our developers set up a platform using React Native with a Ruby on Rails backend. To enhance SEO, particularly a social sharing function, on a dynamic website, we implemented full-page caching.
To create a unique search system, we used Elasticsearch technology, which can process a large amount of data and quickly return the personalized result.
Stripe Connect was chosen as a secure and powerful payment system. Syndicode engineers have developed a solution to enable offline payment request processing and allow automated commissions to the platform owners.
The result
The Syndicode team has assisted in idea development and the creation of a fully featured education platform. The client relied on our technical expertise in coding, testing, and delivery.
We launched an MVP in 9 months and, after successful validation, a full product went live. As of today, Evrlearn has expanded its course base to over 3,000 programs and keeps growing its user base. Syndicode has been providing ongoing technical maintenance to the platform.
Movinga - online home removals
Description
Movinga is an aggregator of home removal services across German-speaking countries. Its customer-friendly interface and simple booking process make relocation fast and effortless.
Goal
Movinga’s owner aimed to launch a product MVP in the shortest term possible. The Syndicode Ruby on Rails team felt confident to take on the project.
The effort
Syndicode started the project with a team of 6 engineers and a designer. We analyzed the company’s branding and the current market and came up with a UX/UI design that would speak to the target audience. Our designer worked closely with the client to create an adaptive order flow diagram for the app’s system composition visualization.
The web app was created using Ruby on Rails as the best platform for fast and high-quality development. Using microservices architecture, we enabled seamless integration with partners’ driver applications for fast booking processing and relocation monitoring.
We launched an MVP 9 months after the project’s start. As a part of Movinga marketing, our team created and implemented a “catch the drops” game using HTML5/CSS3 and JavaScript.
The result
Movinga has attracted €15 million of funding and landed among the top 10 of the most innovative startups in Germany.
HLPRS - house service & cleaning marketplace in the Netherlands
hlprs - is an online marketplace developed by Syndicode from scratch. Here you can find an experienced service provider doesn’t matter if you need a gardener, handyman or a babysitter. Syndicode was responsible for backend and frontend development of product’s website and mobile application.
ThredUP store - the world’s largest fashion resales marketplace
Description
ThredUP is a second-hand online store that sells apparel, shoes, and accessories. The platform promotes the idea of sustainable fashion, encouraging users to buy gently used clothes and sell things no longer used.
Goal
The thredUP website’s existing code didn’t provide the required scalability and user experience. The owners also wanted to streamline and automate the business processes. The Syndicode engineers were asked to fill the expertise gap in thredUP’s development team and find a solution to the aforementioned issues.
The effort
Syndicode fully rewrote the legacy code to enable easy modification and expansion of the website’s functionality. As a part of our business processes streamlining efforts, we worked with the client’s marketing team to create and implement a new seller’s form. Having made it lighter and more user-friendly than the old version, we substantially reduced the user churn.
To optimize the parcels registration process, our engineers implemented an online bag functionality that removed the manual work of reviewing the parcel content and assigning it to a user.
The result
At the beginning of 2022, thredUP has sold over 12M shares for the total cost of around $168M. The business is valued at $1.3 billion.

Kinderlime – Web and mobile app to Empower your Childcare
Description
Kinderlime is a childcare platform that reduces paperwork and gives parents a full picture of their children’s activities and school performance. The web app stores documentation, payment information, schedules, and contacts. Parents and teachers can review and edit information on an intuitive dashboard.
Goal
Kinderlime came to Syndicode with high load problems in their web app. They also wanted to enrich the app’s functionality and make it presentable to potential investors.
The effort
Syndicode provided a dedicated team that brought a specialized knowledge of the RoR framework to the project. We improved the application response time and mitigated the risk of security hacking.
Our developers wrote custom APIs for mobile and web apps and an external API to simplify data transfer from other services.
We covered 95% of the entire solution with tests, guaranteeing its excellent performance under all possible scenarios.
The result
Kinderlime was acquired by Procare, a child care management software giant, within 2 years from the project's start. Currently, the platform has over 1 million active monthly users and annual revenue of more than $30M.
InstaLinks - ?reate customizable landings and links
InstaLinks is a service that provides you with a customized landing page and a single, short link that you can use on Instagram and other social media sites. From scratch, Syndicode built Instalinks’ website and web application with a bunch of useful integrations and payment gateway.
Fuzu – Job marketplace for hiring in African countries
Fuzu is an African job search marketplace connecting employers with the right talent. The website uses machine learning to take into account the former user’s activity and offer relevant vacancies or candidates. It also serves as a learning platform, enabling users to enhance their soft and hard skills.
Goal
The task placed before the Syndicode team was to implement an expanding list of features and create a product that is easy to maintain on the client’s premises. We were also limited in time.
The effort
A team of Syndicode specialists augmented the client’s expertise and accelerated the development process. Our designer created a brand new design for web and mobile versions of the platform. We have fully redesigned the obsolete B2C platform and added B2B functionality. We also tailored the interface to the African user, their traditions, and their mentality.
The platform’s legacy code didn’t meet the current requirements for loading speed, maintainability, and marketability. The Syndicode team has developed entirely new software from scratch, improved the platform’s architecture, optimized it for SEO, and added a reward system. Further, we created and implemented separate portals for job seekers and recruiters. We also made separate versions for each African country serviced by the platform. Additionally, all website pages were customized according to a user’s goal–learning, job search, or recruiting.
The result
The client received a full-featured platform in under 1 year, fulfilling their commitments before the investors. Now they have over 50K active users per month.
The legacy code has been turned into a stable system that requires no special technical knowledge to maintain.
Also, the website is now fast-loading and scalable due to optimization.
